What are common injuries? In this video, Christopher S. Warrell, M.D., an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine at Orlando Orthopaedic Center, discusses the common injuries he sees in his practice of medicine.
“Hi, I’m Chris Warrell with the Orlando Orthopaedic Center as a sports medicine orthopaedic specialist,” says Dr. Warrell. “What are the most common problems I see in the clinic? By far it’s knee and shoulder injuries, and more specifically in the knee, it’s meniscus tears. In the shoulder, it’s rotator cuff tears or labrum injuries.”
“These are injuries that are common in sports, but they’re also common in day-to-day life, whether somebody has a labor-intensive job or they have a more active lifestyle outside of work in terms of lifting weights or playing pick-up sports. Those are the common injuries we see on a day-to-day basis.”

If you experience any kind of pain or discomfort when running, it’s best to follow up with your doctor to get a proper diagnosis and to rule out other conditions.
Using the RICE protocol, taking an NSAID for pain, following a physical therapy plan, and doing targeted exercises can help you recover from many common running injuries. Cutting back on how often and how far you run can help you recover faster, too.

STORYLINE:
Survivors of last week’s terror attack on the World Trade Centre are coping with wounds and terrible memories.
Many of those who were severely burned in the attacks have been brought here to New York Hospital’s Weill-Cornell Burn Centre for treatment.
The hospital’s burns unit is caring for more than 20 patients burned by the explosions and fires that engulfed the twin towers and other nearby buildings when two jetliners crashed into the complex.
Messenger Purssar Nandan was in the elevator of one of the twin tower buildings when one of the planes smashed into it.
He suffered burns to 34 percent of his body.
Trade Centre security guard Brian Reeves suffered burns to over 30 percent of his body.
He was on the first floor carrying out duties when the attacks happened.
Doctors say both men are expected to survive.
New York’s Police Commissioner, Bernard Kerik, says hope of finding any more survivors diminishes with each passing hour.
So far, officials say the number of confirmed dead is 218, with 5,422 still missing.
